Colorado!

It's amazing where a 15-hour drive can get you. First I'm in the flat, cactus-filled desert that is my home, and now I'm enjoying the beautiful forests and chilly weather of Colorado! My uncle and his family have an amazing home up here (the picture above is the view from the living room), and my family is visiting them for a week just for fun. And it has definitely been fun! I have my own private room up in the office - well, not totally private, I have some fish for roommates, but they don't say much.

We got here Sunday evening, and monday morning we saw two bears just outside the house. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me so I don't have any pictures of them. I have been hoping they would come back, but so far there's been no further sight of them. Yesterday we also went on a hike, where we discovered some small caves in the rocks, and then me, my sister, and two of my cousins spent the night outside in a tent. It got a little chilly, and we were a little afraid of mountain lions and bears, but we lived and it was a lot of fun.

This morning was a little lazy. I slept in until 9am, hung out with my cousins for awhile, and
then went into town with my parents for a short shopping excursion and lunch. We ate at this little deli and it was delicious! As we were driving back up the mountain toward the house, I saw the Fire Department and asked my parents if they'd mind if I stopped in. They said they didn't, so I got a tour of the station and met the people working on C-shift. It's a pretty cool station, and they invited me to come on a ride-along this Sunday, so I'm looking forward to that. There are two women on the shift, so I thought that was pretty cool as well.

Right now we're watching AVATAR and I'm drinking a Chai Latte. I'm going to sign off for now, but I'll probably write again sometime this week. Have a blessed day!

Outside Temp: 60°F (But it will get much colder later...)

Countdown to Africa: 12 days...Lord prepare me.

Verse of the day:
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
1 Corinthians 10:12
